As an Autobuyer, you’ll guarantee your tickets automatically in every Captain's Club Lottery.

It’s like subscribing to tickets so you don’t need to remember to buy them each time – and you don’t miss out on the chance to win big.

It also lowers our costs so that more of your ticket purchase goes towards saving lives on the water.

And to thank you for being a regular supporter, you'll be entered into the exclusive Autobuyer Prize Draw each lottery!

Autobuyers must use a credit card to sign up and agree to have it debited automatically at the beginning of each Captain's Club lottery, for the amount of tickets specified, until further notice.

We’ll email you before we charge your card for each lottery, you can return your tickets for a full refund, and if at any stage you no longer wish to be an Autobuyer, just let us know.

You can top-up your tickets by buying more as a one-off, or increasing or decreasing the amount of tickets you Autobuy.

How does my ticket purchase help Coastguard?

By supporting our lotteries you are helping to save lives at sea. Funds raised from our lotteries are used to enhance the operational standards of volunteer Coastguard search and rescue units by providing search and rescue equipment, training and support. There are many people walking around today who wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our courageous volunteers. None of this would be possible without supporters like you.

How do I buy a ticket?

You can buy on this website, by calling 0800 568 879 or by posting your order form. You can use a credit or debit card or internet banking to pay for your tickets.

Can my tickets be emailed to me?

Yes! Tick the box on the online order form, or let our customer care team know over the phone. Just make sure your email address is correct. It's easy and convenient, it saves paper, and it saves Coastguard money, so it's a win-win! Sometimes, the email might go into your spam or junk folder. To ensure future e-tickets reach your inbox, please add [email protected] to your address book, mark us as a safe sender, or if your e-tickets are in your spam or junk folder, you can mark the email as 'not spam/junk.'

Do I have to be a New Zealand citizen / resident?

No, you can buy tickets and win prizes regardless of your visa status. However be aware that if you do win a prize, our licences stipulate that we have to deliver prizes within New Zealand, so please be prepared to make suitable arrangements if you do win a prize but don't live here.

How are the winning tickets drawn?

On the day of the draw the team gathers together at the published time and, supervised by a Police officer or other person of standing, we draw out the winning numbers from our lottery ‘draw machine.’ It’s got numbered balls in it that are thoroughly mixed and drawn at random. Our prize draws are open to the public, we are very happy to have guests, and the date and location is published in our terms and conditions and on the lottery tickets.

What happens if I win a prize?

We will contact you! We try to call our prize winners to give them the good news. We will also send an email or letter confirming your win. Sometimes we don't have phone numbers or email addresses for our winners, so please make sure you fill in all the details on the order form.

Where can I find the results?

Results are published at www.coastguard.nz/winners and emailed to ticket holders. We aim to publish results within 2 working days of the draw. This gives us time to contact winners, verify all prizewinning ticket purchases and follow our strict procedures. If you join our lottery mailing list we'll email you the lottery draw results, so you can check your numbers.
