How does my ticket purchase help Coastguard?
By supporting our lotteries you are helping to save lives at sea. Funds raised from our lotteries are used to enhance the operational standards of volunteer Coastguard search and rescue units by providing search and rescue equipment, training and support.
There are many people walking around today who wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our courageous volunteers. None of this would be possible without supporters like you.
How do I buy a ticket?
You can buy on this website, by calling 0800 568 879 or by posting your order form. You can use a credit or debit card or internet banking to pay for your tickets.
Can my tickets be emailed to me?
Yes! Tick the box on the online order form, let our customer care team know over the phone or tick the box on the order form. Just make sure your email address is correct. It's easy and convenient, it saves paper, and it saves Coastguard money, so it's a win-win!

Do I have to be a New Zealand citizen / resident?
No, you can buy tickets and win prizes regardless of your visa status. However be aware that if you do win a prize, our licences stipulate that we have to deliver prizes within New Zealand, so please be prepared to make suitable arrangements if you do win a prize but don't live here.
How are the winning tickets drawn?
On the day of the draw the team gathers together at the published time and, supervised by a Police officer or other person of standing, we draw out the winning numbers from our lottery ‘draw machine.’ It’s got numbered balls in it that are thoroughly mixed and drawn at random. Our prize draws are open to the public, we are very happy to have guests, and the date and location is published in our terms and conditions and on the lottery tickets.
What happens if I win a prize?
We will contact you! We try to call our prize winners to give them the good news. We will also send an email or letter confirming your win. Sometimes we don't have phone numbers or email addresses for our winners, so please make sure you fill in all the details on the order form.
Where can I find the results?
Results are published on our website and emailed to ticket holders. We aim to publish results within 48 hours of the draw. This gives us time to contact winners, verify all prizewinning ticket purchases and follow our strict procedures. If you join our lottery mailing list we'll email you the lottery draw results, so you can check your numbers.

Lottery closes 24/09/2021*. Drawn by lot at the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre, 3 Solent Street, Auckland, at 10.30 am on 29/09/2021*. Results published 01/10/2021* at www.coastguard.nz. Tickets limited to 110,000. Numbered 10,001–120,000. Order and pay for your Winter Lottery 99 tickets on or before the 12/07/2021 and these tickets (and any complimentary tickets issued on or before 12/07/2021) will qualify for our special Early Bird prize draw. Prize is $10,000 cash. Offer closes 12/07/2021. Drawn in conjunction with the Winter Lottery 99 on 29/09/2021*. Prize winners notified in writing and prizes delivered within New Zealand. Any additional meals, alcoholic beverages, travel insurance and all other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the travel prize winner. All travel will be booked through Coastguard’s nominated Travel Agent - actual dates are subject to availability and exclude high season (Dec-Jan). *Original close date 30/08/2021, draw date 01/09/2021 and results published date 03/09/2021 amended due to COVID Alert Level restrictions and licenced by the DIA. Because of the current COVID-19 Alert Level restrictions, Coastguard’s Winter Lottery 99 prize draw has been postponed from the original date of 1 September 2021 to Wednesday 29 September 2021 at 10.30am. The Department of Internal Affairs have approved this change and amended our licence number LT100000084. Rest assured that all tickets issued since the lottery opened will be in the draw when it takes place. If any further postponements are required we will inform ticket holders by email, on our website and on our Facebook page.
